Why Understanding the Big Picture Changes Everything

If someone handed you a single page from the middle of a novel, would you understand the entire story?

Four Movements That Explain the Entire Bible

One helpful way to understand Scripture is through four major movements.

1. Creation

The Bible begins with a good and perfect world.

God created humanity in His image and designed us to live in relationship with Him.

Everything was exactly as it should be.

2. The Fall

Humanity chose independence instead of trusting God.

Sin entered the world.

Relationships were broken.

Pain, suffering, and death followed.

Yet even in humanity's rebellion, God promised a coming Savior.

Hope appears almost immediately.

3. Redemption

The rest of Scripture points toward Jesus Christ.

His perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection provide the rescue humanity could never accomplish on its own.

The cross is not an unexpected interruption.

It is the center of God's rescue plan.

4. Restoration

The Bible ends with hope.

One day Jesus will return.

Sin will be defeated forever.

God will make all things new.

His people will dwell with Him forever in a restored creation.

The story comes full circle.

Why This Changes Everything

When you understand the Bible's big picture, individual passages begin to fit together naturally.

Instead of seeing disconnected stories, you begin to recognize one continuous message.

You understand why the Old Testament matters.

You see how the New Testament fulfills God's promises.

Most importantly, you discover that every part of Scripture ultimately points to Jesus Christ.

Perhaps the most remarkable truth is that this story isn't only about people who lived thousands of years ago.

God is still writing His story today.

Every follower of Jesus has been invited to participate in His mission of bringing hope, truth, and reconciliation to the world.
